Ask for Pics of My Kitchen, and Ye Shall Receive

Mae over at Peas Love Carrots (where you can currently read everything you ever wanted to know about celebrity preservationists, by the way) asked me to post some pictures of my new kitchen. I'll admit I was hesitant. My husband and I have made some progress in that there are no longer a chest of drawers and a full laundry basket in the middle of the floor. And God bless Ikea and Target for any clever storage solutions you can pick out despite the mayhem. But is it virtual-dinner-party-suitable? Er, no.

On the other hand, I don't have a recipe to share with you today. I ate a delicious yet uninspiring omelette for breakfast (read: eggs, cheese, spinach, salt, pepper). And though my husband and I made a late-night raid on his office to collect leftover goodies from the party, I am happily munching one now without knowing whether it's ham or turkey... really, if anyone from the Weekly is reading this, please help me out! No offense to whomever brought it; it's very tasty. I just haven't the faintest idea what it is.

Therefore, in a move that is uncharacteristically personal for this particular blog...

Say hello to my kitchen, my cat Panzram, my half-full trash can, my defunct Aerogarden, my as-yet-unsold tennis rackets and golf clubs (feel free to make us an offer), my floor that hasn't been swept since we moved in despite the wellie-weather we're having, my empty wine glass from which I drank OJ this morning; and of course...

...that current bane of my existence, the temperature dial on my cantankerous oven... grr...

Have fun! It's kind of like one of those bar games where you circle the objects in the picture. Only it's my life. Yay.

Beat the eggs. Whip the cream. Show no mercy.

Love the golf clubs in the kitchen. That way if your husband is naughty (a la Tiger) you've got your weapon of choice handy. Now Martha would probably come up with some clever way to convert them into kitchen utensils...

Vegetable Matter beat me to the Tiger Woods joke! Big things can come out of a small kitchen. I've seen so many huge huge kitchens in Hollywood homes that people never ever use...I like a kitchen that looks like it works, and the Dove is Love sign.

Oh my gosh, this post had me laughing so hard - you're a witty one, you!

... the kitchen isn't tragically bad - and I know a creative brain like yours will just make it work to your advantage, yes indeed. ;)

I'll have to post a pic of my sliver of a kitchen now, to be fair... we can start a tiny kitchen club! :)

PS - I love the Breakfast-at-Tiffanys style wine glass used for OJ (ok, so that was milk in a champagne goblet, but whatever!).

Terrific! Love the cat, and I'm so impressed because I have a small galley style kitchen (my husband and I down-sized after the kids left), and it's sometimes very hard to navigate. You are very organized!

@Lookytasty... Not well. So far we've only tried to grow chile peppers in it. In the time it took our plant to flower, our friends Liz and Mary over at Green Flamingo had already grown and harvested their chiles for the season. And then our flowers never advanced beyond that stage. So off the bat... not a recommendation. We'll see what happens with the next plants.

@Vegetable Matter... Lovin' the kitchen utensils idea. Maybe I will serve a giant salad so I can use them as tongs.

@Kathy... yeah, I suspect if either of us ever wrote anything important on that whiteboard that wasn't just cute fluff, the other one would die of shock. It'd be like, "What, you put your shopping list on it!?"

@Mae... Awesome idea! We should make up a badge for ourselves that says "Tiny Kitchen Club."

I love it! Especially how you prefaced the Foodbuzz email by saying "I doubt you'll like this..." which duh, worked on me, because I opened the email! (of course, I always open your emails, soo....)

I love getting peeks at blogger's worlds! I've been thinking of doing the same at some point, mostly to show off a set of ghetto warped pans I've been using since college. Kitchens are, in a lot of ways, the most personal room in the house, as it's very functional, it speaks of personal process, and it's full of objects that have stories. I'm sure you'll be filling your new kitchen with many many wonderful memories.

I think I can be the president of the Tiny Kitchen Club or maybe I should be in the Make Do With What You Got Club (no kitchen at all). You are brave (LOL) but it could be worse. All jokes aside I think your kitchen is fine. Look at it this way small kitchen less clean up. ^_^
